Smudew’s Place is where I put all my favorite music and I will be adding some other stuff there as time goes along.
Old Codgers – Can’t have Smick and Smudew without an Old Codgers Page. The heart of this site. Lots of Good Music. This page is also the home for the Oktoberfest Selections.
The Canteen has a lot of music from the WWII era and beyond – Very Good Stuff.

HIKING Category – This is where I want to post our hiking journals, photos and slide shows. Right now there is only one hike, but more to follow.
MUSIC Category – This is where all the beautiful music is located. There are two sub-categories; Midi Sing-a-long and Vocal Sing-a-Long. In the main Music Category is where I will just put instrumentals that do not have lyrics. The Midi Sing-a-Long pages have songs and lyrics with no vocals. The Vocal Sing-a-Long pages have songs and lyrics and vocals.
THE BIG TO-DO Category‘ – This is where I am going to be posting all our humongous projects and the progress being made on each. Right now there is one “Completed” project with pics and slide show under OFFICE.
THE MIGHTY 8TH Category – This is where I will post everything to do with the Mighty 8th Air Force and our friends there. The slide shows from all the reunions and meetings are there and there is also a tour of the 8th Air Force Museum.
Over time I will add more categories and do some themeing of the music categories, but I think this is a good start for now. I will be incorporating stuff from the old site into this new site as time goes along. You can still get to the old site (although I’d just as soon you didn’t – cause I am tearing it up bit by bit) by clicking here.

My name is Debbie. Also known as Smudew. I have had this website since 1996. Back then, the internet was very different to what it has become today. I hope that other folks who share my views and interests will find this website and follow along on this journey into the new world!
I was raised by my grandparents. And my likes and dislikes are reflected in that generation gap. My taste in music is more to my grandmothers era than to someone my age (which I ain’t tellin’ – but you will probably figure out if you read much of this!)
I am writing this blog for my own benefit, but perhaps some of you who find yourselves in this same situation will get some help from it too.
I WAS THRILLED TO FIND THIS SITE FOR WORDS TO “PEG O’ MY HEART”. I AM PREPARING FOR A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR A DEAR FRIEND WHO FLEW FOR THE NAVY, EASTERN AND CORPORATE COMPANIES…I’VE KNOWN HIM SINCE I WAS 11 YEARS OLD AND HE USED TO TRY HIS BEST TO PICK OUT A TUNE ON THE PIANO THAT HE WANTED ME TO PLAY FOR HIM. HE WAS SO TOTALLY TONE DEAF THAT I NEVER COULD QUITE FIGURE OUT WHAT THE SONG WAS…HE ONLY REMEMBERED THE FIRST 4 NOTES! I THINK IT WAS PEG O MY HEART AND I’M GOING TO SING IT AT HIS SERVICE. HIS MOM’S NAME WAS PEGGY AND SHE DIED WHEN HE WAS A TEENAGER, SO I’M PRETTY SURE THIS SONG IS THE ONE. THANKS SO MUCH.
AS A PIANO TEACHER, I’M ALWAYS LOOKING FOR THE WORDS TO OLD TUNES AND THIS SITE IS A SUPER SOURCE. HOORAY!!

My mom use to sing the Jolly Playmate when I was a toddler and she had a chorus that she sang with it. I only remember two lines. and the tune to them. Don’t write music but the lyrics were: ” She couldn’t come out to play, It was a rainy day”. Maybe someone else can fill in the rest. Enjoying your blog. THANKS!!!
